I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is the leading educational, medical and research institution in Russia. It’s history begins in 1758 as the medical faculty at Imperial Moscow University. For over two centuries Sechenov University has been a pioneer in the Russian healthcare system. Presently, the University has over 18 000 domestic and international students and more than 2000 faculty members. The modern fully renovated University hospitals are equipped with 3000 hospital beds and over 4000 medical employees are involved in patient care activities. In-patient departments of University Hospitals provide high-tech healthcare services using cutting-edge medical technologies such as robotic surgery, MRI/Ultrasound fusion biopsy or stereotactic surgery. Over 2500 cancer patients are treated annually in University hospitals. The Center for Personalized Oncology established in Sechenov University in 2017 is providing targeted therapy of cancer based on a personalized approach, conducting clinical trials in oncology and coordinating research in cancer genetics, immunology, and translational research.
